R17 500 in prizes for the 2020 model of the year!

Model Boat Clubs are giving all model builders an incentive this year to complete that long overdue project. So dust off the hull, get the tools and CA and continue where you left off!!!

R17 500 in cash up for grabs!

With a total prize pool of R17 500, Model Boat Clubs are giving three lucky winners of the Model of the Year Competition, each a  R5 000 cash reward, so please inform your members of this “competition”.

Here is how it works.

Club Members must enter the competition at participating clubs and make a R50 payment to the club directly. The proceeds are for the benefit of the Club.

The Club secretary must then forward all entries to us by no later than 31 October 2020.

Non-club members and the public

If you are a keen model builder, but not a member of any of the participating clubs, you can enter as individual. The entry fee is R75 and all proceeds goes toward the prize pool.

Entries will be listed on Model Boat Club Magazine and our readers will vote for the Model of the Year.

Voting will open on 1 November and the winner will be announced on 4 December 2020.

The model with the most votes will be the winner!

How to participate.

If you want to participate as a CLUB, please let us know by sending your club name to “2020@modelboatclub.co.za”.

If you want to enter the competition you must go to your Club and ask them if they are participating. If not, you will not be eligible to enter the competition.

If your Club is a participant, please make a payment for R50 to your club and send proof of payment to us at mtyc.competition@modelboatclub.co.za.

There are three categories to enter, each with a winning prize of R5 000.

  • A On water photo should be “under sail” or “under power” so the wake of the vessel is shown.

You may not “photoshop” your backdrop, and suspicious images will be verified for authenticity. We need to find at least one photo of your model somewhere on the internet.

Voting and photo galleries will not be active until payment of the entry fee is verified. The sooner this can be done, the greater your voting chances.
