CapeWest’s dignity saved by the Corona Virus

The annoucement by President Cyril Ramaphosa that all events with 100 or more attendees must be suspended may have been bad news for some organisers, but for CapeWest it was a blessing in disguise.

The Club was able to save face with sponsors and minimise it’s losses without having to inform sponsors that the modellers in the Western Cape has no interest in their own sport. Save for the 5 modellers who agreed to show their skills at the events, the rest of the modellers in the Western Cape were spared the embarrassment.

Chris Blackshaw, the CEO of Canal Walk Property Owners Association expressed his disappointment in the cancellation of the event of the 11th of April, saying that they really looked forward to the event at their facilities.

CapeWest is hopeful that more modellers will come forward, and join the eventing team to resume events of this nature in the second half of 2020.
