Did you know we are the only club in South Africa that caters exclusively for the Scale Boat Modeller?
In model boating, the common functional areas are called Sail, Scale and Speed. Most clubs cater for all three, but end up focusing on one. This creates unfair treatment of one group over the other despite the fact that the subs or membership fees are the same for everyone.
So before you decide to join a different club, be advised that we do not cater for radio sailing and regattas. If yacht racing is your preference, feel free to join Northern City Radio Sailing.
The same goes for Speed boats. If you really want to go into model boat racing, the Cape Model Boat Club is ideal. Or you could join or sister club, Orion ERC Offshore Racing for Hobby Shop models, F1’s and Cats.
Our Fleet
We cater exclusively for Scale Model Boaters. Our Fleets consists of four divisions, called Flotillas:
- Age of Sail – Radio Controlled Sail Boats (Not Racing Yachts)
- Age of Steam – Radio Controlled Steam driven models
- World of Warships – WWI & WWII models
- Maritime Models – All post-war commercial ships.
Each flotilla is under the leadership of its own Commodore.
